COVID-19 is a new strain of coronavirus that had not been previously identified in humans, can spread easily from person to person, and can result in serious illness or death. To mitigate the spread of COVID-19, to protect the public health, and provide essential protections to vulnerable Michiganders, it is crucial that all Michiganders take steps to limit in-person contact. The critical mitigation measures include social distancing and limiting the number of people interacting at public gatherings. Conducting the November 9, 2020 Public Hearing on the Request of 116 W Fourth, LLC in person would risk the personal health or safety of members of the public and/or the City Commission. Therefore, the public hearing will be held electronically, in compliance with PA 228 of 2020 and procedures established by the Royal Oak City Commission.
The Royal Oak Police Department has received a request to review a new proposed plan of operation from 116 West Fourth, LLC, located at 116 W. Fourth, Royal Oak, Michigan. The class C liquor license currently in escrow is being purchased from Lawrence L. Sophiea & Sons, formerly d/b/a Local 212 located at 212 West Fifth Street, Royal Oak, Michigan. The applicant is requesting a new SDM license, Sunday sales (a.m./p.m.) permit, entertainment permit, and permanent outdoor service area permit.

Members of the public may participate in the meeting electronically by providing public comment on by leaving a recorded comment at 248-246-3411 between the hours of 4:00p.m. and 6:00p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2020. Recorded comments will be played for the city commission during the public hearing portion of the agenda.
