The City of Royal Oak is offering free parking for the first 30-minutes at all on-street meters effective immediately.
The measure is in response to an order issued on Monday by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer banning dine-in customers at restaurants throughout the state through March. The governor’s order permits food and beverages via curbside pick-up and delivery.
“The Royal Oak City Commission has empowered city staff to make necessary changes to quickly adapt as the situation we are facing continues to evolve,” said Chief Corrigan O’Donohue. “Royal Oak has the best restaurants and bars in the state, and we wanted to make it easier for people to get a delicious meal as we all adjust to the new normal.”
The free 30-minute parking includes all downtown streets. Parking garages are free for two hours when you arrive before 5:00 p.m. on Monday through Saturday. Parking lots remain unchanged. Parking throughout downtown is free all day on Sundays.
