A Mother’s Day tradition for over a quarter century, the Royal Oak in Bloom flower and garden show returns next week.
“Last year the crowds were huge,” said Shelly Kemp, executive director of the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce which hosts the annual. “We usually have about 5,000 people, but last year it seemed like more.”
This year’s event is from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 12.
For the second year, Royal Oak in Bloom is returning to the parking lots between Sixth and Seventh streets on Main Street.
The move to Main Street with higher visibility to downtown traffic is likely responsible for the increase in shoppers, Kemp said.
