On May 29th, ROPL will be upgrading to a new shared online catalog and checkout system called CARL. The new system will offer easier searching, more relevant results, a kids catalog, innovative account features, effortless integration with eBooks and eAudio, and a new mobile catalog.
The upgrade will occur while the library is closed for Memorial Day weekend. During that weekend (Saturday, May 26 through Monday, May 28) library cardholders will be unable to access their library accounts to place holds, renew materials, etc. Materials can still be returned at the outdoor drop boxes at the library and fines will not accrue over that weekend. During that time millions of records will be transferred to the new system. Also in preparation for the migration to a new system, MeLCat services will be suspended on April 1, 2018 with a tentative resume date of July 1, 2018.
All of your holds will transfer to the new system. After May 29th, library PINs will be restricted to six or less numbers. Any patrons who currently have a PIN that contains letters or are larger than six numbers will be assigned the last four digits of their phone numbers. When logging into your account in the new catalog, you will also have the option to create an EZ username and password.
Thank you for your cooperation as we get ready for our new system. We expect it to be a great improvement for Royal Oak Public Library and for YOU!
