Parking Meter Updates in Downtown Royal Oak
As of April 10, 2023, the Royal Oak City Commission voted to approve updates to the Municipal Parking Services (MPS) for the on-street parking meters.
In an effort to enhance guests’ parking experience in Royal Oak, the agreed upon amendments, between the City and MPS, include:
The grace period (or free parking) will be extended to fifteen minutes for on-street parking, with the previous grace period being five minutes.
The time limit for on-street parking will be extended to three hours, with the previous limit being two hours.
Free parking will be available on Juneteenth, as part of free parking on all Civic Holidays.
These updates will go into effect later this month.
Street Parking will remain free on Sundays, Civic Holidays and before 11am. There are also four parking structures in Downtown Royal Oak available for parking.
We encourage anyone who would like to share their parking experience with us to visit romi.gov/parking and fill out the form, and someone from the City will get back to you.
