The Jingle & Light parade scheduled for 7:00 p.m. today (Dec. 11) in Downtown Royal Oak has been cancelled due to the threat of high winds.

..WIND ADVISORY UPGRADED TO HIGH WIND WARNING UNTIL 8 PM EST THIS EVENING...
WHAT...Southwest winds sustained to 35 mph with gusts to around 60 mph expected.
WHERE...All of southeast Michigan.
WHEN...Until 8 PM EST this evening.
IMPACTS...Unsecured unsecured objects likely damaged. Tree limbs blown down with power outages. Hazardous driving conditions.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS... A powerful cold front sweeps across southeast Michigan from late morning into early afternoon. Wind gusts in excess of 60 mph were reported along and behind this front as it passed through the Chicago area and into southwest lower Michigan. A 2 to 4 hour period of similar conditions is expected in southeast Michigan with the frontal passage followed by several hours of gusts around 55 mph this afternoon.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.
