About Us

The Royal Oak Advisory Board advises the city commission and staff on matters in the community pertaining to solid waste (non-recyclable material) collection and disposal, yard waste, air quality enhancements, hazardous waste management, energy savings, and water quality.

General Information

If a Royal Oak resident has a problem or question regarding recycling pick up they should call the Royal Oak Department of Public Service at 248-246-3300.

This board meets on the fourth Wednesday of Sept., Oct., Nov., Jan., Feb., March, April, and May at 7:00 p.m. at the Mahany / Meininger Senior Center. See below calendar links for additional details. 

Board Makeup

The Board shall consist of twelve voting members who have experience or interest in environmental sustainability efforts. One of the twelve voting members shall be a member of the city commission. The Department of Public Service and Recreation Director shall serve as an ex-officio nonvoting member of the board.  All voting board members shall be residents appointed by the city commission for three-year terms. Students are eligible to sit on this board.
