Yard Waste bags are collected (when in season) from your home and delivered to the Southeastern Oakland County Resource Recovery Authority (SOCRRA) compost facility in Rochester Hills where they are turned into humus-rich compost. The compost is then offered to residents in SOCRRA member communities. The free compost pile for residents of Royal Oak is located on the east side of Coolidge, North of 13 Mile Rd. The compost pile is in a vacant lot just north of the batting cages - the northeast corner of the park near Edgar and Starr. Please enter from 13 Mile Rd. The compost pile will be available seasonally. Once frost laws are lifted SOCRRA will make deliveries every Thursday (if they have compost available) until the weather turns. The compost pile may be moved and temporarily unavailable during large events such as the Woodward Dream Cruise.
