2025 Construction Projects

The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project.

CAP2509 13 Mile Road Resurfacing

13 Mile Road from Woodward Avenue to Crooks Road

The contractor will be paving the roadway in the outside lanes Monday and Tuesday this week.  Then on Thursday and Friday they will be shifting traffic to the outside lanes so work can begin on the inside lanes.

Traffic Changes:  13 Mile Road will have one lane open in each direction throughout construction. To decrease traffic backups, left turns will be prohibited along the corridor and at the major intersections of Coolidge Highway, Benjamin Avenue, Durham Road (eastbound only), and Crooks Road (eastbound only). Access to businesses will be maintained during construction.

This work is scheduled to be completed by the end of July, in advance of Dream Cruise weekend.

CAP2514 Downtown Resurfacing

The city will be resurfacing Williams Street from E Seventh to E Third and W Sixth Street from S Washington to S Center this Spring. The contractor will also be installing ADA parking spaces and ramps on W Second Street adjacent to the post office.

This project is now substantially complete. Pavement markings were completed last week and parking meters are back online.

The contractor will be working on finishing landscape restoration this week.

CAP2535 Road Reconstruction

Ravena Avenue - Chester Road to Dead End

Hillside Drive - Hillside Court and Yorba Linda Boulevard

On Ravena, the contractor will work on backfilling and restoration, and will re-open the newly poured driveway approaches once they are fully cured.

On Hillside, the contractor will pour the remaining pavement and 2nd half of the driveway approach once the already poured concrete is fully cured and re-opened to traffic.

Benjamin Traffic Circles

The city's contractor will begin working on the remaining two (inner) traffic circles this week. The outer traffic circles will be reopened to thru traffic so residents can still access their homes, with cones places inside the circles for visibility. Once the concrete curbing is poured for all four traffic circles, the contractor will install colored concrete on the inside of each circle.

Any residents whose driveway access will be affected will receive a door hanger notice the day beforehand so they can move their vehicles.

2025 Sidewalk Program

The contractor plans to begin work after the Memorial Day holiday. They are in town this week completing minor restoration work from last year's program and may begin saw-cutting in the Phase 1 neighborhood if time allows. No removal and replacement work will start until after the holiday weekend.

Schedule:

  • Phase 1: Working east to west between 13 Mile Road and Normandy Road
  • Phase 2: Working west to east between Normandy Road and 14 Mile Road
  • Phase 3: Working west to east between 14 Mile and north city limits.

If property owners wish to discuss the proposed sidewalk replacement with the project inspector, please call 248.246.3260 to schedule an appointment.
