Joe Gacioch

City Manager News

Following a robust search for the city's top administrative position, on Monday, the city commission unanimously chose to hire Joseph Gacioch as Royal Oak's next City Manager.

The city manager is responsible for overseeing the city’s day-to-day operations, implementing policies set by the city commission, and working closely with residents, businesses, and stakeholders to address the evolving needs and aspirations of the Royal Oak community.

Mr. Gacioch, with a 20-year history in leadership and management, has a wealth of experience. He currently serves as the City of Ferndale City Manager and has expertise in key areas such as strategic planning, public finance, parking system administration, priority-based budgeting, employee engagement and crisis communications. He is well-suited to guide the city’s long-term initiatives.

This appointment is contingent upon a background check and successful contract negotiations.

Leave the Leaves

The City of Royal Oak’s curbside leaf collection is tentatively set to begin on Nov. 4! As always, you can track the progress in your neighborhood using our leaf tracker map.

2024 SCHEDULE

LEAVE the LEAVES

We’re inviting residents to try something different this fall—Leave the Leaves! By doing less raking, you’re helping create vital habitats for pollinators and wildlife. (Don’t worry, we’ll let you know how to manage those leaves in the spring!)

Want to show your support? 'Leave the Leaves' signs are available at City Hall for $5. They’re not required but are a great way to help spread the word.
