Youth Academy

Royal Oak Youth Police Academy

The Royal Oak Police Department is excited to announce that registration is now open for the first-ever Royal Oak Youth Police Academy!

The Youth Police Academy will take place beginning Monday, July 22 and run through Friday, July 26, 2024.  The academy is designed to teach students teamwork, leadership, and communication skills, while also providing them an introduction to the skills and equipment utilized by police officers on a daily basis.  

Classes will be held inside the Royal Oak Police Department Community Room from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM and the academy is open to any Royal Oak school student entering 7th or 8th grade in the fall of 2024. Spots for the academy are limited and the academy is free for attendees.

Sustainability Happy Hour

Royal Oak Sustainability Happy Hour

February happy hour is all about food waste reduction. Chef Johnny of Alchemi will be giving a tour and highlighting their waste reduction journey. Local food waste reduction businesses and organizations will be present to launch Royal Oak’s food reduction pilot and assist your home or business towards reducing food waste—more details to come.

Parade marches down Main Street

Memorial Day Parade Application

The date is approaching quickly for the Royal Oak Memorial Day Parade -- one of the most prestigious parades held in Michigan.

The parade will step off on May 27 at 9:00 a.m. sharp on Main Street at Lincoln and proceed north to Centennial Commons. A ceremony immediately follows the end of the parade at the Veterans War Memorial.

Groups looking to be in the parade must fill out this year's parade application.
