2023 Construction Project Map available now!

Use the map above to see if a project is affecting your street. The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project.

Notices of Construction have been mailed to affected residents and copies are available online here.

CAP2306 Rochester Road

This week the contractor will be working on installing underdrain along the edge of the roadway between 12 Mile and 13 Mile Road. Then they will begin preparing the subgrade so the road base can be placed. Curb and gutter placement to follow.

South of 12 Mile Road the contractor is placing concrete curbing, intersection and concrete base course on the roadway this week.

Turn Restrictions and Closures:

Left turns will not be allowed for northbound and southbound traffic at 12 Mile Road, Girard Avenue and at 13 Mile Road during construction to avoid backups. Northbound Rochester Road will be completely closed between Gardenia Avenue and Dewey Street. Local access to the Oakview Cemetery and Rite Aid will remain open.

CAP2308 Major Road Improvements

Vinsetta Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue:

The contractor has completed paving and only minor landscaping work is remaining on these two streets. The contractor is holding off on sod placement until more favorable weather.

Normandy Road:

The contractor has completed the new water main installation and is now connecting it to the existing system. There will be a few water shut-offs throughout the week and any residents affected will be notified the day beforehand with a doorhanger stating the approximate duration.

The contractor also plans to begin installing edge drain along the roadway and will begin replacing curbing this week.

Normandy Road will be closed to thru traffic throughout construction. Residents with driveways on Normandy will still be able to enter the construction zone via the side streets to access their property. Businesses should direct their patrons, employees and deliveries to use Coolidge to access Normandy Road to minimize conflicts with construction work.

CAP2305 Concrete Repair Program

Concrete work is substantially complete on this project. Only minor landscape restoration work remains.

The contractor is holding off on installing the speed humps on Buckingham until after the Woodward Dream Cruise.

CAP2310 Water Main Improvements

Longfellow

The contractor will be working on lawn restoration and final adjustments of sewer structures. Once complete they will schedule the final paving.

Sixth Street

The contractor is prepping and forming for concrete restoration work for the driveways, approaches, curb and gutter on the south side of the roadway.

Houstonia

The contractor has begun prepping to begin work, mobilizing materials to the block, doing pavement markings and advanced saw-cutting. Construction is scheduled to begin mid-August.

CAP2315 Asphalt Resurfacing

The project streets shown in purple on the project map have been divided into three phases as shown below.

Phase 1

These streets are substantially complete. The contract has some minor landscape restoration and sprinkler repairs on their punch list to come back and finish.

Phase 2

On Phase 2 streets, the contractor will be adjusting drainage structures for the final roadway height and continue lawn restoration and sprinkler repairs. Once complete the final layer of asphalt will be scheduled to pave.

Phase 3

On Wellesley, Tufts and S. Wilson, the contractor will be pouring the remaining new concrete curbing, driveway approaches and sidewalk ramps. Then they will begin backfilling and adjusting structures. Milling of the roadway i tentatively schedule for the week of August 14th. The contractor is also finishing work adjacent to the Salter Center.

On S. Edison, the contractor the new concrete work was finished between 4th and 6th and is curing to gain strength. The contractor will re-open driveways once the concrete has fully cured.

Between 6th and Lincoln the contractor will be starting on the west side of the roadway replacing curbing and approaches, beginning mid-week.

CAP2315 Phasing

CAP2335 Road Reconstruction

Parkdale (Rochester to Ardmore)

The contractor will be grading and forming the roadway for the new concrete pavement this week between Ardmore and Red Run Court.

Helene

The new driveway approaches are curing and the contractor will re-open them once they gain strength. The contractor also plans to work on finishing the sidewalk ramps later this week and next week.

Brockton

The contractor will be grading and forming the roadway for the new concrete pavement this week.

Parking: The school is allowing residents to use the parking lot off Brockton during construction. Some spaces will be marked for school use only but the remaining spaces are available to residents to park during construction.

Seventh

The contractor is pouring the new roadway pavement and south side driveway approaches this week.

Ferris

The new roadway is open and the contractor will be backfilling and doing cleanup this week. They also plan to pour the driveway approaches later in the week.

CAP2335 street list

CAP2302 Sidewalk Program

The contractor has completed the main sidewalk production work. They have started asphalt repairs and sprinkler repairs. The landscaping crew is continuing work on backfilling and lawn restoration throughout the neighborhood.

RCOC Roundabout
Greenfield & Normandy 

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has begun the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of Greenfield Road and Normandy Road. The intersection is closed to traffic for the duration of construction.

Side streets are closed at Greenfield near Normandy Road to help reduce cut-thru traffic.
