Abe Lincoln

Abe Returns to the Museum

If you missed him at the grand opening, re-enactor, Ron Carley, is returning to the Royal Oak Historical Society Museum on Saturday, April 29 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Carley is one of Metro Detroit's most popular Abraham Lincoln performers and educators.

Get a selfie with the 16th President of the United States and enjoy refreshments. This will be your last opportunity to view  the “Lincoln the Man” exhibit.

Your $10 donation is appreciated! The museum is located at 1411 W Webster.

Yard Waste Separation Guide Cover

Yard Waste Collection Begins

Here's what you need to know!

  • Please have yard waste out no later than 7:00 a.m. on your regular trash day as the contractor can change routes at any time.
  • Yard waste may be placed in 32-gallon trash cans, clearly labeled with a “yard waste” decal facing the street, so it can be easily spotted for pickup. Free yard waste decals are available at the DPS office on Campbell Road and at City Hall.
  • Yard waste may also be placed in a 30-gallon paper yard waste bag, available at most stores.
  • Containers and bags cannot weigh more than 50 pounds each. Plastic bags are not acceptable.

Listen

Listen Up, Royal Oak!

The new City Commission chamber offers an assistive listening solution that delivers clarity to those struggling to hear in a big room that can at times be crowded. The device (shown in the photo) is easy to use.

If you are interested in trying one, please call the Human Resources Department at 248-246-3070 in advance of any meeting you are planning to attend. We’ll be happy to have a listening device ready and waiting for you!

Lockbox Picture

Residential Lock Boxes Available at the Fire Department

The Royal Oak Fire Department’s residential lockbox program is designed to get quick access to adults living in their own homes during medical emergencies -- especially senior citizens.  When every second counts, the lockbox -- which contains a key to your home -- reduces the likelihood of property damage caused by first responders forcing entry into your home in response to an emergency call.
