[ARCHIVED] Royal Oak Brewery Will Temporarily Close for $200K Renovation

ROB10 600

Oakland County brewery institution Royal Oak Brewery is preparing to undergo a $200,000 renovation this month with a focus on freshening up the exterior and interior of the building, per a release.

Owner Drew Ciora, who founded the brewery in 1995, confirms to Eater in an email that the brewery will temporarily close beginning Tuesday, May 28 while it receives updates. He characterizes the changes as “dramatic and noticeable,” compared to the brewery’s last renovation four years ago, which focused on functional aspects of the property like plumbing and electrical wiring. As part of the latest facelift, the brewpub is receiving new custom-built communal tables, chairs, and barstools. Ciora also plans to stain the existing wood in the pub a mahogany color. The facade and biergarten will also get a new look.

Additionally, the large pictures that hang on the fire brick wall at ROB will be removed and raffled off on Wednesday, May 22. Ciora intends to replace the 24-year-old photos with new marquee lighting and a custom beer board display.
