[ARCHIVED] Downed Branches

Tree Branches

DOWNED BRANCHES: What you need to know!

DPS crews are picking up downed branches that have fallen from trees in the right-of-way. (The right-of-way is the grassy area between the sidewalk and the street curb).

If your property has downed branches that are from a right-of-way tree and need to be removed, please call DPS at (248)246-3300.

If you have fallen branches from a tree on your private property (your back or front yard), they must be disposed of privately.

GFL will collect branches between 2 inches and 5 inches in diameter that are less than 4 feet long and bundled. Each bundle must weigh under 40 pounds. You will need to hire a chipping service for branches larger than 5 inches in diameter.

The city's contractor, JH Hart, has a chipping service for a small fee. You can reach them at (586) 795-5581.
