Hamer Finch Wilkens Park

Hamer Finch Wilkins Park

Proposed Bronze Sculpture

Proposed Sculpture by Austen Brantley

We are creating a new space in Royal Oak to honor our community's first Black pioneers -- Henry and Elizabeth Hamer.

The vision for the new Hamer Finch Wilkins Park (Crooks and Walnut) is a peaceful and reflective garden. The focal point of the park will be a bronze statue of Henry and Elizabeth created by Detroit sculptor Austen Brantley

We plan to kick off a fundraising campaign in mid-November to assist in supporting the transformation of a 0.29-acre park space -- which currently does not have any amenities -- into an educational garden with pathways, benches, new landscaping and educational components that tell the story of the city's early pioneers.

To be the first to know when the campaign kicks off, sign up for the Royal Oak Weekly eBlast.
