The building division will be closed until Aug. 20 while we are relocating to the new city hall. We are unable to issue permits or take payments. We will have limited access to email and NO phone service.

If you have an urgent code enforcement concern or a question for someone in the building department, please email us at building@romi.gov and someone will get back to you as soon as we are able.


Responsibilities


Under the direct supervision of Jason Craig, Chief Building Official, the Building Department is charged with the following responsibilities.

Building Inspection


Building Inspection is responsible for issuing permits for commercial and residential construction projects, performing related electrical, structural and plumbing inspections and enforcing compliance with local ordinance as they apply to these functions. Many of Building Inspection's informational handouts and required applications are available online in PDF format.

Ordinance Enforcement


Ordinance Enforcement responsible for enforcing city ordinances that address commercial and residential property maintenance, merchant licensing, and public health and safety issues.

Rental Inspection


The Rental Inspectors perform regular checks of all apartments, hotels, motels, and houses offered for rent within the city. Many of Rental Housing Inspection's informational handouts and applications are available online in PDF format.
